During this episode, Tim, Jerry and I welcomed Adobe Education Leaders Craig Daalmeijer-Power from TAFE NSW (Xd demo) and Steven Kolber from Brunswick Secondary College in Melbourne (Thought Leader).

This episode we worked to overcome some tech-gremlins which kept bobbing up, impacting both our stream to the Adobe for Education channel and the connectivity of Craig before the show and Steven DURING his presentation. Tim and I had thought on our feet and planned for ways we could cover Craig should he not be able to rejoin the stream, so we really had to start tap-dancing when Craig came back and did his presentation without a hitch... then Steven's internet dropped out mid-presentation!
I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work with such gracious and adaptable Edutech professionals, who adapted quickly and easily to the technical issues we experienced. In the recording, you'll note how Tim and I use Steven's unexpected break in transmission to promote the Adobe Edu Summit for APAC in September. Steven's presentation about equity and practices in the international education sector was really getting interesting as his internet dropped out - hopefully we will have the opportunity to see it in full... perhaps at the APAC Edu Summit?

Craig's presentation on what he and his students do with Adobe Xd was, as always, both interesting and inspiring. I took many, many screenshots to showcase his work during his presentation, but to immerse yourself in the full scope of creativity he employs with his students, you should check out our recording (linked above).

We'll be on a short break, and will be back on the 14th July 2021.

Tonight's wonderful guests included:
  • Dr Max Schleser from Swinburne University, and
  • Clara Galan, Adobe's Global Education Community Lead

Sadly, we were not joined by Paul McLean as planned (he was under the weather), but Max Schleser filled the time Paul would have been with us with some truly inspiring AR projects in Adobe Aero, and 360 video projects tips and tricks LIVE on screen!
Tonight I learned:
  • I really need to grow an extra pair of arms :) I was captivated by Max's presentation and couldn't help but try out his Aero asset during his demonstration.
Content warning: If you are playing with Max's Aero asset at work or in bed, make sure you turn the speaker volume of your phone down. I just about gave myself a heart attack when I accidentally activated the audio he embedded in his AR project!!! Such a great asset and project, well worth checking out using the QR code in my Spark Page - just don't play in a shared or quiet space without headphones active!
  • Clara is the busiest bee - just her listing off presenters at the Global Adobe in Education Summit had me in awe!
  • If you have a chance, check out her livestream show with Tanya Avrith!

To check out some of my notes from this evening, you can access my Adobe Spark Page with my show summary. To watch tonight's recording back in it's entirety, you can access the video embedded above, or in my Spark Page (below).

    The Author

My day job includes designing, developing, writing, copy editing, creating and delivering training resources for staff and students (including video capture/editing and voice over/other post-production work for multi-modal resources). In my spare time, I like to take pretty pictures.
