Next, Joel did a live demo in Photoshop Mix (curently being redeveloped and merged with Photoshop Fix) where he put his daughter's Book Week Hobbit costume into an actual Hobbit-Hole!
Next, for the Thought Leader segment, Tim shared a selection of his EduTECH presentation on creativity in education, which of course made special mention of the 1 year anniversary of the passing of a titan in Edu-thought, Sir Ken Robinson. Check out our explorations in the video (embedded above), and check out the Adobe Spark Summary Page I created during the livestream event this evening. :)

We were joined by Chris Betcher (@betchaboy) and Michelle Dennis (@michelledennis) as our guests for this episode, with wonderful demonstrations from the both of them.
Michelle's segment (15:42 in the video) was based around the use of 3D creation files placed into Adobe Aero to give students the opportunity to create objects and see them, to scale, in a real world environment. Her virtual perfume bottle was placed on a table in the Aero desktop app, and she even gave a bonus little demo on how you can 'tell' the object to behave when it is dropped in to it's virtual environment. Next, Chris Betcher (35:42 in the video) shared his 5 minute gem with specific and excellent examples of how constructive attitudes towards failure works to kindle creativity, not smother it. I learned some fabulous examples of how to explain the creative process to naysayers who discount the value of creative experimentation and failure, and thoroughly enjoyed the practical ways that students can be encouraged in their artistic expression. Technology provides us with the opportunities to see our creations expressed in reality, and I love hearing from fellow educational and technology professionals about their perspectives - it is always so inspiring!
Next, Brett joined us and led a LIVE collaborative teacher-learner experience with suggestions based around the concept of sunrise and using various poetic devices. It was fabulous - check out my summary below, and watch the recording from the 29:20 mark (or linked below in my Spark Page/above in this post).
Next, Paul presented his thoughts about the limiting effects of timetabling in schools, and shared some articles he has posted to the Adobe Education Exchange. He is asking for collaboration, so the links have been added to my Spark summary below. Reflection: What did I learn from this episode? There is always space for creativity in learning and under pressure. I had no idea that Brett was going to ask for participation during his segment in the show; I had thought that I would be able to quietly work on my Spark Page summary and take notes in the background while he shared. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily some suggestions came to me. This made me immediately grateful for all of the recreational reading I had done in school and beyond. His choice of theme (sunrise) brought to mind the "rosy-fingered dawns" of Homer, and I was transported back to a simpler, younger time, where I had more space to be creative than adult life often allows. I was very grateful for this exercise - it brought back a lot of wonderful memories of exploring other worlds - thank you Brett! Autonomy, reflective practice and practical experience in learning - Wednesday 14th July 202114/7/2021
This enables them to learn while studying about the kind of content that they can create to mix and create professional content for real-world clients.
Karen has also observed a positive change to the quality of the content that teaching staff can create, enabling them to increase not just the outputs but the TRUST that students have in their teachers, seeing examples of their own creative projects using the same resources. Check out her book about Social Media Management here. Dan Haesler of Cut Through Coaching and Consulting was our thought leader tonight, and his 5 minute gem was all about learner autonomy, and the observed improvements when learners are active participants in their learning, not just 'recipients of knowledge' from those in power around them. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work with such gracious and adaptable Edutech professionals, who adapted quickly and easily to the technical issues we experienced. In the recording, you'll note how Tim and I use Steven's unexpected break in transmission to promote the Adobe Edu Summit for APAC in September. Steven's presentation about equity and practices in the international education sector was really getting interesting as his internet dropped out - hopefully we will have the opportunity to see it in full... perhaps at the APAC Edu Summit?
Craig's presentation on what he and his students do with Adobe Xd was, as always, both interesting and inspiring. I took many, many screenshots to showcase his work during his presentation, but to immerse yourself in the full scope of creativity he employs with his students, you should check out our recording (linked above). We'll be on a short break, and will be back on the 14th July 2021.
